YOI Registers Voters and Donates School Supplies on Youth Day in Brentwood - The Long Island Community Foundation

We have a new website!

Since inception, The Long Island Community Foundation has operated as an affiliate of The New York Community Trust.

As part of our centennial celebrations, we are creating a single, unified organization to more powerfully advocate for our region with one voice.

We will still maintain our physical offices in Long Island with the same dedicated staff who will continue to honor and build upon our relationships with local nonprofits and communities.

You can now find us at: https://www.thenytrust.org/long-island/

YOI Registers Voters and Donates School Supplies on Youth Day in Brentwood

“Youth Are the Future of the World!”

Two inspiring fellows on Long Island founded the District 1 Youth Advisory Board in Brentwood and organized a youth-led back-to-school event on Friday, August 19th! They handed out over 600 backpacks and registered voters. Hoping to raise $500 for school supplies, they surpassed their goal!
The Youth Organizing Institute is a leadership development program established by the New York Civic Engagement Table (NYCET) to engage youth and train them to become the next generation of movement builders. This work was funded in part by the LI Civic Engagement Fund, a collaborative fund at the Long Island Community Foundation.
