Since inception, The Long Island Community Foundation has operated as an affiliate of The New York Community Trust.
As part of our centennial celebrations, we are creating a single, unified organization to more powerfully advocate for our region with one voice.
We will still maintain our physical offices in Long Island with the same dedicated staff who will continue to honor and build upon our relationships with local nonprofits and communities.

INSPIRING THE NEXT GENERATION OF SCIENTISTS
The 21st century’s economy is creating more jobs that require not only a college education but also expertise in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and math, collectively known as STEM. In 2011, the Long Island Community Foundation awarded a grant to the L.I. Museum of Science and Technology (LIMSAT) to work with Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL), a U.S. Department of Energy research center, to create a Long Island STEM Hub.
