Beloved friend and LICF board member, Roz Goldmacher dies at 67

The board of directors and staff of the Long Island Community Foundation are deeply saddened by the passing of Roslyn Goldmacher on Saturday, May 30. She was 67 years old.

“Roz” as her friends called her, was a long-time member of LICF’s board of advisors and became a member of the emeritus board in 2019. She had established the Selma Goldmacher Charitable Fund in memory of her mother, in 2006. “Roz, was an incredible champion and unconditional advocate for so many important causes to improve the quality of life for all on Long Island,” remembers David Okorn, LICF executive director. “Her hands-on stewardship and vast social network were instrumental in the success of numerous for-profit and nonprofit organizations. She was a dynamic force who lived and loved with purpose, intention and good works … she will be greatly missed.”

Roz was the founder and former president and CEO of the Long Island Development Corp., a nonprofit economic development organization that got its start in 1980. She also founded Long Island Small Business Assistance Corp.
