Since inception, The Long Island Community Foundation has operated as an affiliate of The New York Community Trust.
As part of our centennial celebrations, we are creating a single, unified organization to more powerfully advocate for our region with one voice.
We will still maintain our physical offices in Long Island with the same dedicated staff who will continue to honor and build upon our relationships with local nonprofits and communities.

The New York Community Trust. For Long Island. Forever.
Join the Long Island Community Foundation for an evening of conversation and learn about our work and the Island’s biggest challenges.
Join Long Island Community Foundation Executive Director David Okorn, Senior Program Officer Sol Marie Alfonso-Jones, and Board Chair Patricia C. Marcin in conversation with Trust President Amy Freitag. Panelists will discuss our work and the Island’s biggest challenges. Donors, nonprofit leaders, and any full- or part-time Long Islanders who are interested in local philanthropy are invited to bring their questions and concerns about our work and the issues facing Long Island. It will be a thought-provoking, and informative evening focused on how we can work together to improve the quality of life for all.
This event is virtual and open to the public.
On November 6th, our Annual Fall Donor Reception was held at the Guide Dog Foundation in Smithtown.
Donors and friends were welcomed with furry paws and friendly faces. We heard from John Miller, executive director about all the great work that is done at Guide Dog and got a virtual tour.
Volunteers came with their service puppies in training.
